To register your student at one of the schools in our district, please complete the registration forms included in the “2016-17 Enrollment Packet” link above. Please fill out all forms and return them to the school’s office. You can also stop by any school office and pick up a registration packet.
In addition, please supply the following information and documents as part of the registration process:
· Student Birth Certificate
· Immunization Record
· Picture ID of parent registering student
· Proof of Residency (e.g. a utility bill, rental agreement, etc.)
· Records and transcript from previous school
· Withdrawal Slip from previous school
During summer break you can get forms and information from each school Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 3 pm. School offices close of Fridays during the summer. During the school year school offices are open 8 am – 3 pm Monday through Friday. You can also get registration information from Michelle Garcia- Perez at the district office, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. She can be reached at email@example.com, or at 568-5133.
The Maricopa Unified School District operates nine schools, each with a unique academic focus in addition to the core curriculum:
Butterfield Elementary (grades K-6) is a STEAM Academy with a focus on the subjects of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) to prepare students for college and future careers.
Maricopa Elementary (grades K-6) is a Leadership Academy with a focus on leadership through integrating the principles of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, as well as increasing technology integration and hands-on learning to enhance reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
Pima Butte Elementary (grades K-6) is a Traditional Academy/School of Excellence with a focus on preparing students to succeed in a global society through the use of science, technology and arts across the curriculum.
Saddleback Elementary (grades K-6) is a 21st Century Learning Academy with a focus on learning strategies that keep students highly engaged to ensure academic success.
Santa Cruz Elementary (grades K-6) is an Achievement Academy. The focus is to be a learning community where staff and students work together to set academic goals based upon individual achievement data. Students can also set health and nutrition goals with daily physical education.
Santa Rosa Elementary (grades K-6) is a Critical Thinking and Technology Academy. The focus is on project based learning and technology integration to support student achievement through real world tasks. A blended learning option is available at grades 4, 5 and 6.
Desert Wind Middle School (grades 7-8) is a Technology Preparatory Program. The focus is on STEAM subjects: science, technology, arts, engineering and math. The school also offers a “blended learning” program (grades 6-8), which combines teacher-led learning with online instruction.
Maricopa Wells Middle School (grades 7-8 ) is a Project Based Preparatory Program. The focus is on Project Based Learning for grades seven and eight and Blended Learning (grades 6-8). All students will complete their semester assessments with subject based and/or cross curricular projects. The Blended Learning/20+1 program combines teacher-led learning with online instruction.
Maricopa High School (grades 9-12) is a College and Career Preparatory Academy.
Students will learn a comprehensive curriculum based on the arts, humanities, technology, math and science with an emphasis on innovation, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving in all subjects. A blended learning option is available at grades 9 and 10. Five Central Arizona College classes are offered on the MHS campus.
